Tennis Betting Lines

05/20/2008 - Dusseldorf, Germany (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - James Blake won and Wayne Odesnik lost on Tuesday, as the United States split its singles matches with the defending champion Argentines in round-robin action at the $2.34 million ATP World Team Championship, a clay-court French Open tuneup.

Blake surprised speedy Argentine Guillermo Canas 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, while Odesnik gave way to Juan Ignacio Chela 7-5, 6-1. A doubles match on Wednesday will decide if the U.S. improves to 2-0 in the four-nation Red Group or the Argentines up their mark to 1-1.

Argentina beat the Czech Republic in last year's World Team finale, while the U.S. hasn't won this event since 1993.

Sweden moved to 2-0 in the Red Group, while the Czechs dropped to 0-2, as Robin Soderling topped Tomas Berdych 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 and 2002 Aussie Open runner-up Thomas Johansson outlasted Michal Tabara 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5). The Swedes and Czechs will also play their doubles match here on Wednesday.

In some Blue Group action, the host Germans and Spain posted some singles wins, as German Philipp Kohlschreiber handled Italy's Potito Starace 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) and Spaniard David Ferrer whipped Russian Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 6-3. Germany and Russia are 1-0 in the Blue Group, while Spain and Italy are 0-1.
