01/18/2007 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Washington Capitals hope to end a three-game skid tonight, when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes at the RBC Center.

The Capitals were handed their latest setback Tuesday night in Ottawa, as Mike Comrie had a pair of goals to lead the streaking Senators to a 5-2 win.

Alexander Ovechkin extended his point streak to seven games with an assist. The 21-year-old Ovechkin is tied for second in the NHL with 63 points (28 goals, 35 assists).

Chris Clark and Steve Eminger scored for the Capitals, who have suffered all three losses during the slide on the road. Washington, which wraps up the four-game trek tonight, is just 8-10-4 away from D.C. this season.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Hurricanes have won four of their last five games and are coming off Tuesday's exciting win at Florida. Justin Williams scored a power-play goal 1:47 into overtime to lead Carolina past the Panthers, 3-2, at BankAtlantic Center.

Florida's Mike Van Ryn got called for holding 1:30 into the extra session and the Carolina power play went to work. Ray Whitney had the puck in the high slot and dished it to Williams at the left circle. Williams held the puck for a couple of seconds and then snapped a wrist shot over the glove of Ed Belfour for the win.

Whitney has registered a point in five straight games, posting two goals and five assists during the stretch.

Erik Cole had a goal and an assist and Scott Walker added the other goal for the Hurricanes. John Grahame made 18 saves in the win.

The Hurricanes have won five of the last six meetings with Washington and are 2-1 against the Caps this year.
