Federer, Nalbandian to meet in Basel final

Tennis Betting Lines

10/25/2008 - Basel, Switzerland (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Roger Federer cruised past Spain's Feliciano Lopez in straight sets on Saturday to advance to the final of the Swiss Indoors tournament, where he will meet second-seeded Argentine David Nalbandian on Sunday.

Federer, the top seed and two-time defending champion in his hometown, nailed 15 aces and won 28-of-31 first service points to oust the unseeded Lopez 6-3, 6-2. The Swiss superstar improved to 7-0 against Lopez, and has won 16-of-19 sets with the Spaniard after his 62-minute win in Saturday's semifinal.

Lopez upended two Americans -- eighth-seeded Mardy Fish in the second round and fourth-seeded James Blake in the quarterfinals -- to set up his first matchup with Federer since last year's Madrid Masters.

Second-seeded David Nalbandian edged third-seeded Juan Martin del Potro, also in straight sets, in Saturday's other semifinal. Nalbandian avenged his straight-set loss to del Potro in the third round of last week's Madrid Masters with his 6-4, 6-4 win.

Nalbandian, the Stockholm Open champ two weeks ago and the 2002 champion here, will play in his fourth Basel final. The 26-year-old, who finished runner-up in 2003 and 2004, converted 3-of-5 break point opportunities to down the 20- year-old del Potro. Nalbandian improved to 22-4 all-time in Basel, and is looking for his third ATP title of the year.

Federer is gunning for his 57th career title and fourth of 2008. He lost to Andy Murray in the semifinals last week at the Madrid Masters.

The 2008 Basel champ will take home a first prize of $186,000.

Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament odds
As of February 9, MySportsbook.com has released its coveted 2007 Mens NCAA Basketball Tournament betting odds. “March Madness betting ” only a month away, the top ranked Florida Gators are favorite at 7-2 to win it all. The defending champs have not disappointed at all this season and currently have a 22-2 record and are undefeated (9-0) in SEC play. The Gators’ thrive off of their extremely balanced, experienced and versatile attack. All five starters started in last seasons National Championship game. What is most impressive with this group is their balance; the five starters all average between 10.7 and 13.6 PPG. The Gators have been on an absolute roll having won 15 straight by an average of 16.4 PPG.

Right behind the Gators are the 5th ranked UNC Tar Heels at 9-2. The Heels (21-3, 7-2) are absolutely loaded with top notch talent and are as deep as any team in the country. A concern for the Tar Heels might be inexperience. Of their top four scorers/ minute earners, three are freshmen and the other is a sophomore. The rest of the regular season, the Tar Heels play only one team that is currently ranked (Duke). Their remaining opponents do combine for an impressive 107-58 record though.

Other teams that the MySportsbook.com members seem to believe will win it all include the west coasts’ top team #2 UCLA (6-1), #3 OSU behind man-child Greg Oden (8-1), and #4 Wisconsin (10-1) behind their defense which has given up 70+ points only three times all season.

Below is a list of some of the favorites to win the 2007 Men’s NCAA Basketball Championship lines. For the full list of teams and March Madness odds be sure to log onto MySportsbook.com. MySportsbook.com and Kentucky Derby Offer Bonuses
The 2008 Kentucky Derby has announced a $1-million bonus for this weekend’s 134th ‘Run for the Roses’ and MySportsbook.com is doing the same.

Well, not quite $1 million, but MySportsbook.com is offering a 75% rebate for Kentucky Derby lines. Check out the exclusive horse racing bonus for all the details.

According to MySportsbook.com, the favorites for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky are: Curlin (+250); Street Sense (+500); Scat Daddy (+700); Circular Quay (+750); and Nobiz Like Shobiz (+800).

Derby organizers announced this week that there will be a $1-million bonus at the 2007 Kentucky Derby odds if the first-place horse wins by more than 6 1/2 lengths – the margin of Barbaro's victory last year. The bonus would be divided Saturday among the winning trainer, jockey, owner and a charity, with each receiving 25 percent. The designated charity is the Barbaro Memorial Fund.

''It's certainly creative, it's certainly fun and it has something for the horsemen, which we always want to embrace,'' Churchill Downs president and chief executive Robert Evans said at a news conference. ''What's really cool is it will force us to remember Barbaro.''

Meanwhile, the Derby favorite – Curlin – is going against the odds this year. It's been 125 years since Apollo won after skipping his 2-year-old season, and not since Regret in 1915 has such a lightly seasoned horse worn the blanket of red roses.

Arkansas Derby winner Curlin – unbeaten in three career races – tries to overcome both those obstacles in Saturday's 133rd Derby.

''We're not running against history,'' trainer Steve Asmussen said Monday. ''We're running against who they load up.''

Six other horses have run in the Derby without benefit of 2-year-old races and with three or fewer starts. The best any of them managed was a sixth-place finish by Showing Up last year.

Asmussen dismissed suggestions that Curlin's lack of racing experience could keep him from the winner's circle.

”He exudes confidence and he's got a great presence about him,'' the trainer said. ''I feel great about the position we're in. He's not worried about anything, why should you be?''

The Kentucky Derby is at 4:04 p.m., ET Saturday.
